Goa Trip
Dated - 6th Dec - 9th December.
This post is more like a travelogue.
I have been to Goa like 4 other times before, but this has been the most memorable trips of all.
May be it was the Best season, Best Beaches, companion who knew what s the best when, companion himself(;) - Arpit).
It was like the perfect First Anniversary and a sort of second honeymoon [
:D]
We started from Bangalore on 5th December in a bus. Bus route form Bangalore to Goa ain't that great. We made last minute plans and perhaps train wasnt running on Friday.
We started at 7 pm in the evening and reached Goa at 2pm. We didnt get volvo tickets, roads were bad, Sharma Travels Driver was pathetic.
Bus dropped us at the Panjim/Panaji bus stop. We hired a bike(Pulsar) there. The rent was ~300. Its usually 200-250. But december+weekend we didnt have much option. Heard its cheaper in other areas like those around Candolim..
We started on our bike and reached Ave Maria at Candolim beach. This is a decent hotel. Not luxurious ..basic amenities, pool facing room with balcony was great. Food ain't that great. But just at walking distance are a couple of good restaurants. There s this entire lane, some shops and good restaurants.
We quickly changed and went to Candolim beach. This beach is just fine. Floor is good, plus not much crowd. Some water sports etc are there.
We spent the evening, saw sunset and then late in the evening we visited the calangute beach.
The entire area, in and around Calangute/Baga beach takes you by surprise. Night life is awesome!
Tittos, Mambos, great restaurants, awesome crowd :D, lights, decoration. I was wondering what it would be to be at this place during Carnival. We took a night stoll along the wet sand and didnt realize we reached the other - Baga Beach.(We had to walk 2 kms back to pick bike :P).. But we shopped on the way back
Baga beach is supposed to be the most happening place.
Next day we woke up and directly visited Calanggute beach.
This I must say is the BEST beach of Goa. Amazing water sports - I enjoyed parasailing, banana ride most. The beach is little crowded but its amazing specially during High tide. This beach is pretty well guarded by life-guards too.
Floor is great. Also you got a lot of options to eat around.
Delhi Chat outside the beach has amazing chat and do not miss the punjabi lassi they provide. you can also enjoy other stuff- sweet corn, peanuts etc
Just take something to eat from restaurants at the beach and you can use their shack for the whole day.
We spent the entire day there. It was lots of fun.
We went to this place - Taste of China near Candolim beach for dinner. Its a pub but the food was good.
Next day we woke up and went to Aguada Fort, we just drove there and stopped for a dolphin-view ride. This place called the jetti, offers a boat ride deep into the sea where you can see dolphins. They arent very big ones. We learnt that morning 7 Am they start these rides and if you come early morning you get to see more of them as there are fewer boats. These guys charge 200 p.h for a ride. Not sure if its worth it though.
After this we headed for the Anjuna Beach.
Anjuna beach is an ordinary beach. Again less crowd and good for swimming in the deep sea. However the beach is rocky and you have to be really very careful while walking through the water in shallow. No life-guards here.
But Anjuna beach is good for timepass shopping. Lots of shops, good bargains. We spend the rest of the day and evening till sunset there. We did some shopping had evenin tea beside the beach and returned.
Later we enjoyed a candle-light dinner at Calangute. We almost visited this place every day ..'
We planned to go to tittos. The disc timings are - 10pm to 3:30am. But we 're i guess a little too tired .. so we just spent some more time on the beach watching the beautiful play of waves.
Next day we had to start back for Bangalore. We packed up had lunch @calangute, lassi@delhi chaat and then headed for panaji. We visited dona paula and miramar beach on the way back to stop.
Miramar beach was a big disappointment. It has been maintained badly. The crowd aint that good too.
There ar eother places to visit in goa - like the St Xaviers Church etc. But guess we were more on a honeymoon trip :P
Overall I loved the entire trip. Enjoyed most of it. People are really nice, jolly-natured and they treat you very well. And this is about every place - whether it waiters on the calangute beach who would make many extra trips form and to your place to these restautrants for every small thing you need or shopkeepers. Most of them speak hindi well. Havent seen anyone getting angry/arguing around..May be its the air of Goa..
the entire place is just COOL!!!!
Awesome beaches, high tides are too good.
I would thank Arpit for such an amazing memorable trip once again!!!
Goa ROCKS in and OUT :D!
